Burial costs (sometimes called opening and closing costs) are labor and administrative fees associated with opening and closing a grave, crypt or niche. This fee, which is the responsibility of the family, must be paid in full prior to the day of the service. Burial fees (open/close) cannot be prepaid.

Please refer to the Rules and Regulations for the type, size, width and thickness of headstones that are required. This will vary by the location section of the grave. Please refer to your contract or deed for this information.
The Cemetery does not have the ability to create a temporary marker. Please speak to the Funeral Home taking care of your service. You may also be able to purchase one at a Headstone/Monument company. Metal/plastic temporary markers are removed when the headstone is placed.
Please contact the Headstone/Monument company of your choice. If your question is about an existing stone, please contact the company that created it for you or your loved one. If a stone has been damaged and you feel it is the cemeteries fault, please contact our office.
Yes, one grave space will accommodate a maximum of one full body burial and one set of cremated remains.
We require a minimum of 72 hour notice for all full body services. Earlier burial will be allowed if our schedule permits. Cremains can usually be scheduled with one days’ notice, also depending on the current schedule.
No trees, shrubs, nor plants may be planted on any lot without the written consent of Fort Smith Cemeteries, Inc. Any trees, shrubs or plants discovered, without written consent on file, can and may be removed and destroyed. All trees, shrubbery or flowers growing or planted in the cemeteries, shall remain the property of Fort Smith Cemeteries, Inc. and cannot be removed without written permission.
Cut flowers, funeral designs and floral pieces, will be removed within five days or when they become unsightly. Persons desiring to retain baskets, designs or mementos, should remove them within twenty-four hours of interment. Silk arrangements in approved Memorial Vases or placed on the stone will be left, as long as they are in good condition and represent the current season.
No, we do not require the body to be embalmed prior to ground burial or mausoleum interment. We do require a vault, however we do not require a casket. Cremated remains may be in whatever container that you choose.
The owner of a grave space (whose name is listed on the Deed) or their agent, has a right to transfer, assign or give permission by written order for the burial of the remains of others than his immediate family in his grave space/s. To sell a grave, a notarized copy of the sale – along with the legal description of its location and the new owners’ full name, address, email and phone number must be presented to the Roselawn office for recording. Until the office receives this form, the grave spaces will remain in the original purchasers’ name.
Visitors are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that grants due respect to the deceased. Visitors are prohibited from damaging plants or trees or disturbing the birds or wildlife. Domestic pets, other than service animals are not permitted on cemetery grounds or in any cemetery buildings. All active forms of recreation are prohibited on cemetery grounds. Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs and disrespectful activity in not permitted.
The cemetery is open for visitation 7 days a week. Gates open at dawn and close at dusk daily.
